Why do surveillance cameras have such bad quality?

I mean is it just me? When the news shows video footage of a criminal the resolution is extremely poor, plus it’s in black and white. It might as well have been an Atari video game(extremely poor video quality). Now I understand sharper images take up more storage space and cost a lot, but isn’t it a waste of money for businesses and other places to buy cameras that are no good?

Did they try using cameras to scan forest for marijuana plants?

They can do it like Google maps using tons of cameras on plane. Upload to a website and let the public help identify or using software to scan for the way the plant look from above.
From the news it seems there is a lot growing activity and nobody can find it. If they scan every square foot logically they can find it. I’m pretty sure with high resolution photo they can tell marijuana plant and growing activities.
I thought this so doable and why haven’t anyone done it.

Do cops love speed cameras so much because it reduces the amount of tax collecting they normally would do?

Why are cops deeply in love with speed cameras?
Don’t gas me up with that they make the roads safer crap, I like running on E.

For every subjective study showing they make roads safer, I could show you one saying they cause more accidents. The statistics can be skewed to say whatever you want.

Forgot to add: Good actions from cops are expected, as taxpayers getting the service we pay for. Please do not quote them to hide incidents of abuse and brutality, the concern in issue…

Do UK speed cameras need to have a warning sign before them?

I’ve recently been flashed by a brand new speed camera in my area. It’s one of the new tall GATSO-esque ones. On retracing my steps, it turns out there aren’t any warning signs of a speed camera or any such signs?

I haven’t yet received a fine and points in the post, but i want to be prepared to fight my ticket.

Any help?
